Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is a “vulnerable” child?
A: Any child whose well being is compromised due to such things as poverty or neglect.
Q: Will this be like an orphanage?
A: No. Our desire is to make it as much like a home as possible. We plan to have multiple houses and not have more than 8-10 children in a home.
Q: Is this for “troubled” kids?
A: We will not be equipped or licensed to house children who have severe behavioral needs.
Q: Will the children be able to be adopted?
A: No. We will not be functioning as an adoption agency. We will be licensed for residency only.
Q: What are houseparents?
A: Houseparents are paid staff that function as parents for our children. They are an example of marriage, parenting, love, and Christ to our children.
Q: How old will the children be?
A: In the beginning, we will focus on ages 6-12. However, eventually we would like to be available for all ages.
Q: How long can they stay?
A: We desire to be a family for our children and don’t want to leave them on their own if they “age out”. We are here for as long as they will allow us to be.
Q: Where will the children come from?
A: Since we are privately run, our children will be privately placed with us by their current legal guardian. There may be a few different cases, but that will be the most common.
Q: Why do you need teachers/tutors?
A: Education is important and opens up so many opportunities for children. Sadly, not every child who enters Fostering Hope will have all of their educational needs met prior to arriving. Our goal is to meet their academic needs on a personal level.
Q: Will you provide therapy?
A: Yes! When we begin, some therapy may need to be outsourced, but we would love to have more in-house therapy as we grow.
Q: How are you being funded?
A: Our funding is primarily from grants, individuals donations, and organizations.
